Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- It's coming up on that time of year, voter registration deadlines are just around the corner and there's a big push to get Clark County voters to the polls.

"This is a battle ground state so the nation's eyes are going to be focused squarely on Nevada in a few weeks," Nevada Secretary of State, Ross Miller, said. "It's important we rise to that task."

Miller is joining the effort - visiting local schools, businesses and Nevada Health Centers where there's many first-time voters.

"We are going to have a lot of first generation voters here," Jason Wadsworth, Nevada Health Centers, said.

The county voter registrar's office said there are 779,000 registered voters in Clark County, but there are another 425,000 eligible voters who aren't registered yet.

That's why Miller is also pushing online registration and registration via Facebook, especially for young voters.

"That generation expects to do everything online so providing a means to be able to register and update their status via Facebook - only two states in the country offer that - its been a tremendous tool," Miller said.

Miller said online registration has nearly doubled. His office launched a TV campaign featuring star Holly Madison with the message - it doesn't matter how you register just as long as Nevadans make it to the polls in strong numbers.

Nevada residents have until October 6th to register online and until October 16th to register in person.
