Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The two teens accused of drowning kittens are due in court on Tuesday to find out their punishment.

The teens are scheduled to be sentenced at the same time.

An organization called Animal Rights Nevada is planning a demonstration across the street from the juvenile courthouse to demand the maximum punishment under a new state law.

The juveniles allegedly killed two kittens by forcing them underwater with barbeque tools in one of their backyards.

A neighbor reported the incident to police, and took pictures as evidence.

Authorities found that teen was under questionable supervision at home, with access to weapons and alcohol.

The judge in the case said the teens' activity raises major red flags. He ordered the teens to undergo psychological evaluations before determining their sentence.

The Juvenile Deputy District Attorney agreed.

"I think that they do represent a danger and, more importantly, I think there needs to be a risk assessment done just because of the sociopathic behavior demonstrated in this type of situation," the DA said.
