Woman killed on Boulder Highway while trying to help dog
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A 57-year-old woman was killed around 10 p.m. Wednesday night in the northbound lanes of Boulder Highway near Harmon Avenue.
The accident happened right in front of the Eastside Cannery hotel and casino.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the woman's car was stopped in the center travel lane and she was standing on the passenger side of her Chrysler PT Cruiser.
The woman was assisting another person who was rendering aid to a dog that had been hit.
A 2007 Dodge Charger, driven by 47-year-old Steven Llewelyn, was also traveling northbound in the center lane.
He failed to notice the stopped car. He attempted to swerve into the right travel lane but struck the woman.
She was transported to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Llewelyn stayed on scene and is cooperating with police.
The Clark County coroner will release the identity of the woman will be release once her family has been notified.
This is the 58th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction.
