Family speaks at funeral for mother and daughter brutally murdered
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Family and friends said goodbye Friday to the Las Vegas mother and daughter that were killed in their home in a brutal attack on April 16.
Funeral services for 10-year-old Karla Martinez and her mother, Ignacia "Yadira" Martinez were held almost three weeks after a suspect entered their home and raped and killed the mother and daughter.
"My family, our family ... I dont think we deserved that," said Yadira's cousin, Fredrick Flores.
"Sometimes I just feel that I can't hold on anymore, but I know god will give us the strength so we can keep on going," says Gaudia Martinez Seal, who just lost her sister-in-law and beloved niece.
Arturo Martinez, the husband of Yadira and father of Karla, was also attacked and was severely injured. He is still in the hospital, although was able to leave for a few moments in order to attend mass.
"He's a miracle and he's recovering, getting ready to be with his children, so, that's amazing," says Arturo's sister Gaudia.
The family recently said that Arturo was no longer in a coma and he has opened his eyes but he has not spoken yet.
Also, Arturo still does not know exactly what happened but he does know that his wife and daughter are not with him anymore.
Police say that the man responsible is 22-year-old Bryan Clay and that it was a random act of violence.
Clay is currently in isolation at the Clark County Detention Center.
