UMC celebrates trauma and burn survivors
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Patients, medial staff and members of the community gathered at Caesars Palace Wednesday.
They showed their support, and honored the spirit of survival at the 15th annual UMC Trauma and Brain Survivors Celebration.
Dr. John Fildes with the UMC Burn and Trauma Unit said Wednesday, "Each year we evaluate more than 4,000 patients with life-threatening trauma."
That breaks down to about ten people a day, and often times when they arrive at UMC, they are clinging to life.
For the past 15 years, those patients have had a chance to reunite and say thank you to the doctors and nurses that helped them recover, at the annual UMC celebration.
Caesars Palace also donates every coin that is tossed into its fountain to UMC Trauma.
