Las Vegas, NV (KTNV)- A local charity rises from the ashes two years after a devastating fire threatened to shut them down for good. Opportunity Village now has a permanent home.

The thrift store is Opportunity Village's main source of revenue and training for the people it serves. So luckily after the fire, they were able set up a temporary location on Meadows and Hwy 95.

"Unfortunately we had a relatively short lease and when it came due the rent was increased on us unexpectedly so we started looking," said Cathy Galbraith of Opportunity Village.

"The landlord at this building was able to work with us and turn this into the beautiful place that it is now."

From barely 20,000 square feet at it's downtown location to 38,000, it's safe to say Opportunity Village has come a long way since that fateful day in July 2010.

"I like this store better, it's bigger and there's a lot more space," said Marie White, a store employee.

And with the added space, the organization is now able to do something they've never done before.

They've added a working art studio and gallery and they'll be selling works of art made by participants from their programs.

"I'd like to think of this as a new beginning for Opportunity Village and an opportunity for me as an artist," said Jason Hanson.

The new store is at 390 S. Decatur.
