Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- First lady Michelle Obama made a couple of stops in Las Vegas on Tuesday to help her husband with his re-election campaign.

Mrs. Obama's first stop at the Springs Preserve was at a breakfast that raised more than $300,000 for President Barack Obama's re-election bid.

The second stop was at a rally to raise the spirits of the volunteers who are critical to making that re-election happen.

The atmosphere was electric inside a room packed with nearly 500 volunteers and supporters.

Mrs. Obama praised her husband's first term in office, including saving the auto industry, creating new jobs and health care reform.

She asked the crowd to help President Obama continue the change he started in 2008.

"When we need a leader to make the hard decisions to keep this country moving forward, you know you can count on Barack because that's what he's been doing every day as president of the United States," the First Lady said.

Michelle Obama's western tour also includes Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico.

President Obama's formal campaign kick off begins Saturday with rallies in Ohio and Virginia.
