Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Days after a mother and 10-year-old daughter were brutally murdered, a friend is stepping up to help surviving family members.

Yadira Martinez and little Karla Martinez were found beaten to death inside their home on Robin Street on Monday.

Police are now saying Karla was also raped.

A friend who has known the Martinez family for more than six years says she's compelled to help.

She does not want to use her name but wants to do what she can for the 4 and 9-year-old boys who somehow made it through the ordeal unharmed.

Their father, Arturo Martinez, remains at the hospital with severe head injuries.

"Imagine what these little boys are going through, and they don't even have their dad right now," said the friend.

She has assisted in setting up an account for the family at Bank of America. Anybody looking to help out can go to any location and donate under the name of the Martinez Family Memorial Fund.

"I'm heartbroken. I'm heartbroken, and all I can do is set up a memorial fund to help the family," she cried.

Friends say in addition to being an electrician, Arturo Martinez managed the Real KO Boxing Club in North Las Vegas.

According to friends, his wife of 15 years spent time there and practiced jiu-jitsu. That leads some friends to believe that Arturo and Yadira could put up a strong fight.

"Yadi refers to Art as mi amour, my love. She loves Art. She loved him. He loved her. They loved their children very much."

Police were lead to the bodies in the single story house after the 9-year-old showed up at school and alerted administrators.

He told them his mother and sister had been killed at home. His 4-year-old brother was found alive in the house.

It's unclear when the attacks took place, but police say the crime scene is certainly a horrific one.

Detectives spent three entire days combing through the family's home. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police has vowed to put every resource possible into the investigation.

"It's mortifying, who would do such a thing to a beautiful little girl," questioned the friend. "This man has to be caught. These people have to be caught."

Police have not named any persons of interest in the case. Investigators also have not speculated on a motive.

Family, friends and other members of the community are expected to gather outside the Martinez home for a candlelight vigil on Friday night.
