Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) --  The Water Authority Board met on Thursday to discuss different options to change your water bill.

The board reviewed five different proposals and narrowed options to three. They'll soon ask for public input at town hall meetings. The public will be notified on their next water bill.

The options?

1. Increasing the price of the commodity.

2. Adding a fixed charge of $5 per month to water bills

3. A hybrid of options 1 and 2. Commodity price would increase by $0.05 and a fixed charge of $5 per month would be added to water bills.

"We encourage the public to be involved and take an ative interest in terms of what is best for you and make your options heard," said Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak.

The Water District says they're more than $3 billion in outstanding debt. They must find additional revenue but want public input on how to obtain more money.

"It's the perfect storm," said Pat Mulroy, General Manager of the Southern Nevada Water Authority. "The worst drought in history on the Colorado River, and the worst economic downturn at the very same time."
