Child shot, killed by gun thought to be a toy
Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- A 6-year-old boy is dead after an 11-year-old boy shot him with a gun he found in a box of toys on Sunday at a Henderson home.
Authorities said the boys were in a play room at a home just before 2 p.m. when the 11-year-old pulled the gun out of a box that had toys in it.
The 11-year-old boy said he thought it was just a toy and pointed it at the boy and fired.
The 6-year-old was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at St. Rose Hospital, Siena Campus.
Authorities said the 11-year-old is a sibling of the mother of the 6-year-old victim.
When detectives searched the house following the incident, they found five other handguns and rifles, all of which were taken by police.
