Breakfast is famously known as the most important meal of the day, yet it’s a meal that’s likely to be skipped. One in five Americans, or about 60 million people, do not eat or drink anything in the morning and millions more opt for nutrient-poor choices on the run. Studies have shown that skipping breakfast makes it nearly impossible to achieve adequate intakes of key nutrients.
Getting the family out the door in the morning can be a big challenge, let alone getting them off to a nutritious start. Breakfast helps children concentrate in the classroom and is linked to better school attendance, which results in fewer discipline problems.
