Four people were killed and a dozen injured after three boats crashed near the Dinner Key Marina in Miami's Biscayne Bay on July 4 around 10:45 p.m after a fireworks display. One person remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission Officer Jorge Pino says, "up to five people were thrown into the water after the crash and as many as 12 were transported to local hospitals. Those hurt include several children with minor injuries," reports CNN. "Two victims died at a hospital Friday night, he said, and two more deceased victims were found in the water Saturday morning." Their identities remain unconfirmed at this time.
In a swift domino effect, one vessel collided with another, and then that second vessel crashed into a third.
Pino says, "It's possible that these boats were rushing to get back to the boat ramp to get out of the water," further reports CNN.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is continuing its investigation into the deadly accident.
