Colbie Caillat ditches makeup for empowering new video

In what has been described as taking a stance against Photoshop, pop singer Colbie Caillat ditches her hair extensions, peels off her false eyelashes and wipes off her makeup on camera in her new music video, “Try.”

In the empowering ballad, Caillat and numerous other women of all ages and races go from glam to bare-faced and natural as the song progresses. One woman even removes her long wig, smiling as she reveals a bald head.
“Put your makeup on/ Get your nails done/ Curl your hair/ Run the extra mile/ Keep it slim so they like you, do they like you?” Caillat sings. She builds to the chorus: “You don’t have to try so hard/ You don’t have to, give it all away/ You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up/ You don’t have to change a single thing,” she sings.
"When I shot the first scene with no hair and makeup on in front of an HD camera in my face, flashed with bright lights, everyone was watching," Caillat told Elle. "I thought, 'Oh my god, I bet they’re all looking at my blemishes, thinking that I should cover them up, or that I should put some volume in my hair.' But it also felt really cool to be on camera with zero on, like literally nothing on. And then when it got to the full hair and makeup, I actually felt gross. I was just so caked on."
