Omaha, NE - UNO held their fall sports media day on Thursday afternoon. The men's and women's soccer teams and the volleyball team talked about their upcoming seasons.
The men's soccer team plays a fierce schedule that features three preseason top 25 teams and several other very good squads. The program has grown during Jason Mims reign as head coach, and his team believes they will compete at a high level this season.
The women's team also plays a tough schedule. They open with an exhibition match against Iowa State, and they will play 25th ranked Denver during the year. Head Coach Don Klosterman has seen his team develop over the course of their transition to division one, and he thinks this year's team has the most chemistry he's seen.
The soccer teams will also play on one of the best fields in the country this year, and they are introducting a new tradition. Purchasing a UNO scarf will get you into all of the men's and women's soccer games this year. They plan on introducing a different UNO scarf every season.
The once dominant UNO volleyball program is continuing to make strides during their division one transition. Head Coach Rose Shires thinks this year's team has shown a work ethic that reminds her of the 1996 Division Two Champions. The team believes they have the ability to at least reach .500 this season.
