ONLY ON THREE: Dead Deer Found in Salvation Army Drop Site

Council Bluffs, IA - "It was quartered and left there, skin on, horns on, everything."

In his 45 years as an officer for the Salvation Army, Major Laurence McPherson has never seen anything quite like that.

"Well, we were astonished."
McPherson says over the weekend, someone drove to the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Council Bluffs to drop off Bambi.
"First time I've had a donated deer, in its skin. It usually has been taken to a butcher and prepped for us so that we can utilize it for the folks that we feed here."
People usually donate clothes, furniture and household goods to the thrift shop on Broadway Street. During its busiest time of the year, this organization is stunned anyone would drop off a carcass.
"It'd be a lot easier for us to deal with having people give us donations that are usable. We do from time to time get unusual things. The majority of individuals are very conscientious of giving us the things that are right that we can utilize for our program and to assist the people that need help."
