OMAHA, NE – Three teams touched down Wednesday, ready to take the field at TD Ameritrade Park for the College World Series.
The games begin on Saturday. Teams from UC Irvine, Louisville and Vanderbilt all landed in Omaha ahead of the tournament. Vanderbilt players stopped at the baseball park for a tour shortly after their arrival. They congregated at the stadium entrance to take team photos.
“This is unbelievable,” said Commodores pitcher Adam Ravenelle, “This is everything I expected growing up as a kid watching these games on TV.”
“You look around and everyone’s smiling. It doesn’t matter what because we got here. We made it here,” said pitcher Walker Buehler.
Vanderbilt takes on Louisville in Saturday’s night game. The Louisville Cardinals toured the building shortly after Vanderbilt. UC Irvine was the first to land, even scheduling an evening practice Wednesday.
“It’s exciting to get back here. This is a first time for a lot of these guys, especially not making the post season the last years. It’s made it an exciting ride so far,” said UC Irvine Anteaters pitching coach Danny Bibona.”I think we’re going to feel pretty comfortable,” he said.
