Fighting Brain Cancer

Omaha, NE - Donovan Miles Jr., also known as DJ, is two years old. But at four months, he was diagnosed with a rare rapid form of brain cancer.

Since then he's been fighting for his life. DJ was once energetic, happy and fun loving.

But today, his condition has left him unable to speak or walk. He has frequent seizures and is now receiving hospice care. DJ's cancer is at a stage where doctors say he wouldn't live through the anesthesia for surgery. Doctors say there's nothing more they can do. DJ's mom Jasmine Reddick is hoping for a miracle.

Reddick says she doesn’t know why her son is still holding on because he's suffering. But he's holding on for something or somebody. In the meantime she’s relying on her faith. Jasmine Reddick says everyday that DJ wakes up is a blessing and that’s what keeps her going.

If you'd like to help raise money in DJ's honor a spaghetti dinner and silent auction is scheduled for August 25th from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Irvington Heights Apt Clubhouse.

The cost is $8 for adults and $6 for kids.

If you can’t make to the event you can still make a difference by visiting any Federal Metro Credit Union or mailing Tammy Reddick c/o DJ’s Journey P.O. Box 541113 Omaha, NE 68154.
