Close, but today will likely not be the hottest day of the year
Omaha, Neb. (KMTV) - It's hot out there for sure, but we've had hotter weather this summer. In fact, Monday was the hottest day of the year so far, with a high of 97. At 4 p.m. Friday, it was 92 degrees. But the heat index made it feel like 103. Weather Alert Meteorologist Jim Flowers said it could reach 97 before the sun starts to set.
Saturday will be hot too, with a high of 94. Thunderstorms are possible after 4 p.m., with a chance for severe storms. The cool down starts Sunday, when it will be 10 degrees cooler. The break from the heat will last through Wednesday, with highs in the low 80s and lows in the high 50s.
