Omaha, NE - A well-known chef in Omaha has died in a motorcycle crash near Custer, SD, while in South Dakota for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
On Sunday, around 4:30 pm Losole was traveling northbound on Highway 87 just outside of Custer when he failed to navigate a turn and lost control of his motorcycle sending him and his bike into southbound traffic. Losole was pronounced dead at the scene.
A family and community is struggling to come to grips with what they say is a devastating loss.
“He was full of life. He lived his life to the fullest. He was a grateful man, he loved his wife, and he adored his children. He was all about family,” said Julia Palzer, a family friend of the Losole family.
A few days ago Dino Losole hopped on his motorcycle and headed to the world famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The story is the same every year, hundreds of thousands go, but some don’t return home. Dino unfortunately was one of them.
Dino's death doesn't just leave a family to mourn, but a community is also mourning his loss.
“To quote my brother, he is just one in a million. There is no one like him. Everyone who meets him loves and adores him and everyone who knows him, you know, he makes you feel like you’re his favorite. He's a gem. He's a special person,” said Palzer.
Julia Palzer’s family grew up with the Losole family and says the Losole family is the definition of a true South Omaha family.
“They are just South Omaha. They're very important to everyone, everyone knows the Losoles,” said Palzer.
And it seemed like everyone knew Dino Losole and everyone is having trouble grasping such a loss.
“This is a guy when you hear about this news, men who never cry, they're going to cry about Dino Losole….he’s worth it,” said Palzer.
