Boy Scouts Collecting Christmas Trees

Boy Scouts Collecting Christmas Trees

Even in the bitter cold, boy scouts in Omaha were out hauling Christmas trees Sunday.

The 16th Annual Christmas Tree Pick–Up Drive kicked off this weekend. Troops pick up trees from people's homes and haul them to a recycling site. The trees are either turned into mulch or fish habitats.

Troops picked up about 200 trees Sunday. They say it was a great way to give back to the community and earn some volunteer hours.

If you'd like volunteers to pick up your tree, make a reservation by going to or by calling (402) 965-1458.

Tree pick-up dates are January 1st, 4th , 5th, 11th and 12th.  Boy Scouts and adult volunteers will collect trees from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
