Two New City Council Members Elected
Omaha, NE-There will be two new members on the city council next month. In Council District five, Rich Pahls with 58 percent of the vote beat Jeff Moore 41 percent.
In Council District Seven Aimee S. Melton received 63 percent beating Tim Lonergan's 37 percent of the vote.
Both say they are excited to join mayor elect Stothert. They add they are also excited to work with the experienced members on city council.
District five's new councilman Rich Pauls was a principal in Millard public schools for 30 years, working many of those with Stothert when she was on the school board there. He also was a two term state senator. He says as a councilman, he hopes to work with state leaders and focus on crime, taxes, and spending.
Aimee Melton said she is excited to take her first seat in public office. She's a mother of three and a partner in a law firm. Melton's a fiscal conservative and says her main priorities in office will focus on saving tax payer money and lowering crime.
City council president Tom Mulligan, the former district 7 councilman was ousted in the primary.
These two new council members will be sworn in the same day as the mayor, June 10th.
