Douglas County Election Officials Prep for Primary

Omaha - The Douglas County Election Commission is ready to go for Tuesday's Primary.

On Monday staffers tested the voting equipment to make sure all ballots run correctly through the machine.

Election Commissioner Dave Phipps says he is expecting a low voter turnout.

He predicts about 50,000 voters or 18% of registered voters to cast their votes.

Phipps believe voter fatigue will play a role and after November's Presidential Election voter may not find local races as important.

But some voters have already turned out.

The  Election Commission reports between 9,000 and 10,000 voters have voted early.

Polls for Tuesday's primary will be open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

KMTV Action 3 News will have complete election coverage.
