Council Bluffs Kidnapping Suspect Has First Court Appearance
Council Bluffs, IA - A judge has set bond at $50,000 for 19-year old Nathan Busse who is accused of trying to kidnap a 5th grade girl.
The alleged incident happened Monday outside Edison Elementary School in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
The 10-year-old victim had just finished up her school crossing guard duties when she says Busse grabbed her and forced her to walk down the street with him.
She tried to get away but claims he grabbed her again. After a brief struggle, the girl managed to escape and ran to a family member who was at the school waiting to pick her up.
The victim's father arrived and captured Busse, then held him at the school until officers arrived. Busse was taken into custody.
The Council Bluffs Police Department says Busse did not know the victim.
Busse is charged with kidnapping, enticing a child, child stealing and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse.
He was appointed a public defender at his bond hearing. The judge also issued a no-contact order, which means Busse must stay away from the victim.
Busse will be back in court on February 7th, 2013.
