Cain's Former Colleague Doesn't Believe Allegations
Omaha, NE -- "Ain't gonna happen". Those were the exact words from Republican Presidential Candidate Herman Cain Tuesday at a press conference. Cain says he is not dropping out of the race for President and denied allegations of sexual harassment. An Omaha man who worked with Cain says he does not believe what four women are claiming.
Hermain Cain is again standing firm and denying allegations he sexually harassed four women when he was a business executive. Standing before a packed press conference, Hermain Cain told reporters, "I have never acted inappropriately with anyone. Period."
Cain's former colleague, Tim McMahon says he never thought Herman was that kind of guy. "I never experienced it. I never witnessed anything like this that this charge is occurring. I'm not the expert, I didn't spend night and day with Hermain Cain, but I never witnessed it," says McMahon.
He worked for an agency that worked with some of Cain's franchises. McMahon describes Hermain Cain as "bigger than life, friendly and gregarious". He says, "He makes you feel very important when you're with him. He's also got this roll up your sleeves kind of attitude that if there's a problem he'll dig in."
McMahon says sexual harassment is taken very seriously and should be. "I never got the whiff that he was kind of a trouble maker or trying to go sexually harass anyone. But at the same time I think women see things quite differently than men and they interpret things differently than men might intend," says McMahon.
McMahon is now a Creighton University Professor specializing in crisis management and leadership. He believes Cain's biggest fault right now is he's not being forthcoming. "Tell it all. Tell it fast. Tell them what you're doing about it. Tell them when it's over and then get back to work," advises McMahon.
The Professor says he's skeptical of the women coming forward because they're all from the National Restaurant Association. He says he might believe it more if they were from other places that Hermain Cain worked at.
