Palm Desert-- St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 47-535 Highway 74 in Palm Desert, will host a Scottish Festival on Sunday, November 10 from 10 am-2 pm. The event is free and open to all. The festival will include bagpipers, highland games, food, and a Celtic marketplace. There will be a special performance by Highland Way, a band that performs the Celtic music of Ireland and Scotland. The celebration begins in the church at 10 am with bagpipers, drums and organ and continues in the courtyard with dancing, music and games. The day marks the beginning of the church's yearlong 50th anniversary celebration. This event commemorates St. Margaret, for whom the church is named. She was an 11th century queen of Scotland known for her pious habits and works of charity among the poor and orphans.
