The Monsoon is Coming

Another day of triple digit heat will afflict the Treasure Valley on Sunday with high clouds building in during the afternoon. A short wave trough of low pressure accompanied by monsoon moisture from the south will move overhead on Monday. This will bring cloudy, showery conditions to much of the region. Treasure Valley high temperatures will cool down dramatically on Monday, with highs in the upper 80s. Unfortunately, conditions will also be muggy so the heat index will be higher.

Drier air will in on Tuesday bringing mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 90s across the Treasure Valley. The mountains could see a few isolated thunderstorms. On Wednesday that threat for thunderstorms will expand to the Treasure Valley as muggy and cloudy conditions return once more. Treasure Valley highs will dip back into the mid 80s as this second round of monsoonal moisture moves through.

Thursday and Friday should both be dry and sunny with Treasure Valley highs around 90. A few clouds could develop on Saturday and maybe even a thunderstorm in the mountains. Treasure Valley high temperatures will remain around 90.
