Unseasonably Cool for Labor Day Weekend

A beautiful forecast across the region today with comfortable temperatures just below average, meaning low 80s through the Treasure Valley and Magic Valley and the mid 70s in the mountains. Skies will remain mostly sunny and winds will stay light.

A cold front will swing through on Wednesday, but not before afternoon highs are able to climb to about 80 in the Treasure Valley. Temperatures will be noticeably coolert, with Treasure Valley highs only in the mid 70s, but for right now conditions seem to stay dry. There will be a better chance for precipitation in the mountains.

An even cooler air mass will push in on Friday, bringing partly cloudy skies and increased moisture. We could even see a few rain showers, but the odds of precipitation will remain slight (about 20% for the Treasure Valley). High temperatures will top out around 70 across the Treasure Valley. By Saturday, as the center of the cool air moves directly over us, Treasure Valley highs will only reach the upper 60s (about 15-20 degrees below average for this time of year). By Sunday, temperatures should moderate back into the low 70s for the Treasure Valley. Labor Day weekend is traditionally considered to be the last weekend of the summer, but it might be more appropriate to call it the first weekend of Autumn in southwest Idaho this year!
