Unseasonably Cool for Labor Day Weekend

Warmer weather will return to the region on Monday, with highs back into the low 80s across the Treasure Valley. Mostly sunny skies can be expected as well. More sunshine and more heat is expected on Tuesday. Expect Treasure Valley highs into the mid 80s.

On Wednesday a cold front will swing through the region, but not before afternoon highs are able to climb to about 80 in the Treasure Valley. Because the air will be pretty dry at the time, a dry frontal passage is expected for much of southwest Idaho, especially the Treasure Valley. Very dry air will move in on Thursday bringing mostly sunny skies with it. Temperatures will be noticeably cooler thanks to Wednesday's cold front, with Treasure Valley highs only in the mid 70s.

An even cooler air mass will push in on Friday, bringing partly cloudy skies and increased moisture. We could even see a few rain showers, but the odds of precipitation will remain slight (about 20% for the Treasure Valley). High temperatures will top out around 70 across the Treasure Valley. By Saturday, as the center of the cool air moves directly over us, Treasure Valley highs will only reach the upper 60s (about 15-20 degrees below average for this time of year). By Sunday, temperatures should moderate back into the low 70s for the Treasure Valley. Labor Day weekend is traditionally considered to be the last weekend of the summer, but it might be more appropriate to call it the first weekend of Autumn in southwest Idaho this year!
