For the second straight weekend, Boise State's defense stole the show, as team "Boise State" defeated team "Broncos" 21-7 at the annual Blue and Orange Spring Scrimmage.
Boise State's defense recorded five sacks and forced three turnovers in all. Head coach Bryan Harsin praised the unit, but was pleased by some things he saw on offense as well.
"Some good, some bad. You know, a little bit like a practice," laughed Harsin. "Plenty of good things from both sides. I thought the defense again played well. The number-one defense had a couple plays made on them out there, but plenty of things to work on, plenty of things to build on, and plenty of positives as well."
On the offensive side of the ball, Ryan Finley was the most efficient quarterback, going 10-12 for 128 yards and a touchdown. Shane Williams-Rhodes outperformed all receivers with nine catches for 81 yards, and Jay Ajayi led all running backs with 70 rushing yards.
"I'm excited about this offense. You saw some glimpses today of some of the down field balls that we're starting to put in and some of the runs that we're starting to put in," said Ajayi. "We really haven't shown a lot of what we have in store yet. We're just working through the summer to keep improving, keep getting the grasp of it, and just making sure August 28 we're ready to go."
