Suspect in Heyburn killing arrested in Texas

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- Police in Edinburg, Texas, have arrested a man charged with shooting another man to death in south-central Idaho in August.
Minidoka County officials say 21-year-old Christopher Cruz was arrested on Tuesday. He is charged with first-degree murder in the Aug. 2 shooting death of 36-year-old Craig Glen Short in Heyburn. He also faces an attempted first-degree murder charge for shooting at another man.
Authorities in Hidalgo County in Texas say they also arrested Cruz's girlfriend, 32-year-old Stephanie Pauline Juarez, on warrants charging her with probation violations. Two other south-central Idaho residents -- Ray Van Every and Gisela Garcia -- were arrested on suspicion of harboring Cruz and Juarez.
At the time of their arrest, Cruz and Juarez were staying at a motel about a block from the Edinburg police station.The Minidoka Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a murder suspect connected with a eastern Idaho homicide case has been arrested in Texas.
Cruz will be extradited back to Idaho.
