A new company wants to build a $40 million sports complex in the Treasure Valley.
Sportsplex Idaho says it’s on its way to build a one-of-a-kind training and competitive venue.
The company has released conceptual pictures of the 185,000-square foot center which would include a sport field, sports medicine center, an educational wing and world-class fitness center.
Carson Sofro, who is the founder of Sportsplex, explained, “We’ve looked throughout the valley and Meridian is the area we’re looking at now. We want to be as centrally located as possible so it’s and easy draw for everyone.”
The facility is being touted as a non-profit which Sofro hopes to encourage kids to be more active.
Sofro explained, "There's evidence here to suggest 50,000 kids in the valley who are not playing sports because they have no place to play and learn."
The location will be revealed September 12 and Sofro explained that the facility has been in the works for 15 months and already committed tenants and large investors, but he would not go into detail.
Sofro's group has rented the Stueckle Sky Center at Boise State to announce the official location on September 12.
