Boise Police look for suspects in shots fired at two schools

By KIVI Staff. CREATED Oct 4, 2013

Boise Police are looking for whoever is responsible for firing four shots into a door at Les Bois Junior High School overnight. At this time, officers are working to see if the shots fired are connected to a report of a shot fired toward another nearby school Thursday afternoon.

Investigating officers say there's evidence that someone stood at the edge of the parking lot at Les Bois Junior High and fired four shots toward the school at 12:05 Friday morning. The shots entered a door. No one was hurt. Officers believe the shots were fired from a .22 caliber handgun.

Security footage (below) from the parking lot shows two vehicles whose occupants seem to know each other, driving through the lot between 11:43 p.m. last night until the time the shots were fired, 12:05 a.m. One vehicle is an SUV, the other is a light colored car.

Although the vehicles in the footage are distant, officers hope someone recognizes the vehicles and calls police.

The incident may be connected to a similar incident that took place on Thursday afternoon.

Boise Police received a report of a teenage boy firing a gun toward Trail Wind Elementary, which is adjacent to Les Bois Junior High, at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.  Although officers are still searching for additional evidence of the crime, a witness reported seeing the shot fired and the shooter running into the nearby neighborhood.

Because of the potential for danger, more than one dozen officers responded. Officers from Garden City Police and Ada County Sheriff's Deputies also assisted in a thorough search of the area, but did not find anyone matching the description of the reported shooter.

The teen was described as a light skinned male with blonde hair, 15 - 18 years old, 5'10" - 6' tall, slender build, approx. 170 pounds, wearing a grey and white jacket with a white shirt underneath, light blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

As a precaution, Trail Wind Elementary and Les Bois Junior High were put on lockdown during the search. Thursday was an in-service day for Boise Schools meaning some teachers and staff were in attendance but regular classes were not in session. However, about 40 young children were at Trail Wind Elementary for a pre-school-age day care program.

Extra precautions were put in place for the safety of those children including officers posted at Trail Wind. The officers assisted staff and were available to explain to parents who arrived to pick up children what the extra police presence in the area was about.

Anyone with any information on the above incidents is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at (208) 343-COPS, or log onto, or text CRIMES to 274637, subject: Tip236.
