Three teammates at Bishop Kelly High School are heading to college to play football. However, they will be doing a lot more than that.
Cole Oliver, Conner Mallett, and Spencer King all signed with prestigious military academies to serve their country.
Oliver will be heading to the Naval Academy and will try to walk onto the football team there.
"It's really exciting to know that I'm gonna have as many great years ahead of me and I'm going to be doing phenomenal things with my life," says Oliver.
Mallett and King will head together to the Air Force Academy where they will face off against their hometown Boise State Broncos in the next four years.
"I thought about playing on the blue [turf] and I'd always think of playing for BSU but now playing against them it's gonna be weird," says King.
Mallett wholeheartedly agrees.
"I think it's gonna be kind of crazy to be on the blue [turf] against them and to see the team I thought I was going to play for," he says.
Both Air Force athletes have signed with the academy and will have roster spots in 2014.
The students will graduate from high school in May. Instead of worrying about preparations for football season over the summer, they'll head to basic training to get their military careers started.
