A major car crash in Star caused seven people to go to the hospital, some with serious injuries. A large commercial truck collided with a minivan, just before noon.

Police told us they're still in the preliminary stages of the investigation. The Ada County Sheriffs Deputies said all they know at this point, is someone failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, where the crash happened.

Ada County Sheriffs got called to the intersection near Pollard and Floating Feather Road in Star at around 11:45 a.m. Saturday. They closed down the intersection for several hours.

According to the deputies, a 25-year-old truck driver collided with a minivan, which was carrying a family of six. Then, the mini-van swerved and hit a fence. According to police, the driver of the mini-van is 16 years old.

"Everybody in this incident is traumatized. This crash was a collision that I'm sure was horrific in its sight and sound, but fortunately everyone was alive and transported, and is getting the best medical care there is. That's what's key right now," said Sgt. Patrick Calley, Ada County Sheriff’s Office.

Police told us some of the family members remain in critical condition right now, but are not in life threatening condition.

The truck driver and the family of six were all taken to the hospital. Police and fire departments from Ada County, Eagle and Star responded to the accident.

The crash closed down the intersection for several hours, until the scene was cleared. Police said they will not cite anyone in connection to the crash, until they have time to further investigate the case.

Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, but they told us they plan to do an alcohol test, since a commercial truck was involved.
