Minnesota town elects 7-year-old dog as mayor

We've already introduced you to former Mayor Bobby Tufts, 5, of Dorset, Minnesota, who recently lost his re-election bid to 16-year-old Eric Mueller. Now, meet Mayor Duke from a few towns away in Cormorant, Minnesota.

Duke is 7-years-old and just won his first seat in office. Mayor Duke will be paid for his service ... in kibble. That's right, Mayor Duke is a dog.

"Voters in Cormorant elected a dog named Duke by a landslide," reports CBS Minnesota. "Duke will be officially sworn in on Saturday during the city’s annual fair."

Cormorant allows its 12 residents to cast a vote for $1, whereas Dorset pulls a random name from a hat to select its mayor.

"A pet food store is donating a year’s supply of kibble to reward him for his service," further reports CBS Minnesota. "After winning, Duke got five hours of grooming and a new outfit."

So, if he "woofs" in agreement to his duties while being sworn in this weekend, does he get a dog treat?
