Firefighters who saved puppies appear on 'Ellen'

The two firefighters from Las Vegas who recently saved a pair of puppies made a guest appearance on Monday's episode of "Ellen."

David Carraway and Gregg Burns described how they discovered two small, lifeless puppies after responding to a house fire. The firefighters also described how, even though they had no specific training on performing CPR on animals, they knew they had to do something for the puppies and that it was a team effort.

The firefighters told Ellen that they worked on the puppies for about 10 to 15 minutes before the puppies began to revive.

Ellen told the pair that she loved them both and that she just couldn't thank them enough. She then invited them to come back for one of her 12 Days of Giveaway shows. She also gave them a $5,000 gift card to Petco.

The firefighters were also awarded the Compassionate Fire Department Award by PETA.

12 people were displaced by the fire.
