NOGALES, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A man wanted on homicide charges in Oklahoma has been arrested at the Nogales Port of Entry by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.

At 11:30 Wednesday morning, CBP officers screening people applying for admission into the country at the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry encountered 24-year-old Charlie Noriega trying to cross through the port.  When he couldn't provide any identification, the officers asked for his name and other information which the officers ran through their systems.  The information came back that he was a wanted on charges of 1st Degree Murder in Oklahoma, so he was immediately taken into custody.  Once his identity was confirmed, he was turned over to Santa Cruz County Sheriff for further processing.

"This is why we are here, screening the thousands of people who cross every day," said Port Director Guadalupe Ramirez.  "Our mission of keeping our country safe depends on our ability to find individuals like this and take action."
