Derrick Williams arrives in Sac free of pressure
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Derrick Williams hit the floor with the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday for the first time since he was acquired in a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves. The former No. 2 overall pick tells The Associated Press that he's eager for a fresh start and ready to put the frustration of his time with the Wolves behind him.
Williams practiced with the Kings on Wednesday and quickly found a team that wants the 22-year-old to grow with its young roster. Williams says he feels like he will be allowed to play through mistakes more with the younger, rebuilding Kings than he did with the Timberwolves, who have playoff aspirations.
Williams says he has nothing against the Wolves for dealing him. He says it was a good trade for both sides.
