Red kettles running in the red

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Tucson Salvation Army's red kettle drive is running behind last year by $46,000.

The money helps fund programs that shelter and feed needy families as well as paying for  Christmas toys and general services through the year.

The Salvation Army says a late Thanksgiving this year meant the agency had to wait five days longer than usual to put the kettles out.

Nationally, the Salvation Army has fallen some $20 million behind last year because of the five day late start.
