Wrong-way driver arrested in deadly Ariz. crash
PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a wrong-way driver is facing charges following a deadly crash on Arizona State Route 202.
Department of Public Safety Officer Carrick Cook tells KPHO (http://bit.ly/1bqBFaL) that a 29-year-old man from Sudan was believed to be impaired by alcohol when he drove his car the wrong way in the eastbound lanes early Saturday.
Cook said Maikil Doud Schol hit a motorcycle head-on near the Priest Road exit.
Both riders were killed. They were identified as 50-year-old Andy Chilimidos and 45-year-old Darlene Atencio. They were from St Johns.
Schol was booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Fourth Avenue Jail on two counts of second-degree homicide. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
The collision resulted in the highway being closed for nearly six hours.
