TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - You've heard of the Grinch who stole Christmas.
What about thieves stealing your credit card statements, packages and more all from your mailbox?
It's a real problem leaving residents across one local town wondering, 'Am I at risk?'
Police asking everyone to check their bank and credit card statements and keep checking.
It seems, no mailbox is safe, and authorities say it could cause big problems for those hoping for a simple, special delivery.
They should be stuffed with reminders of the most wonderful time of the year.
"It's kind of violating," said one resident.
"I'm trying to wrap my mind around it,"
Instead, it seems your mailboxes contain loot to be lifted by a sticky fingered Scrooge!
And he's a Scrooge with some heavy artillery, according to snapshots taken by police.
Police say Saturday and Sunday, the spree spread across town hitting two spots near Tangerine and First and a third near First and Eton.
OVPD sent out alerts, knowing all kinds of information are at risk.
"We're always worried about identity theft in these cases, but more than likely, this time of year, a lot of families mail christmas gifts in the form of gift cards, sometimes currency," said Lt. Chris Olson.
One resident said this isn't the first time her mailbox has seen battle.
"We assume that children with a baseball bat hit it. After that it was with a BB gun," she said.
Some hope these burglars show a softer side.
"If they got any of my bills, they can certainly pay them," said one resident.
Others are fed up.
"What's the point?" she said. "I don't understand. I don't understand the joy in doing that."
Police say in both spots, neighbors spotted a black F-150 truck.
At least one person saw the driver looking inside mailboxes.
