Victim of hit and run killed
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - One man died early Saturday morning after police say he was intentionally struck by a car.
Lt. Jeff Inorio with South Tucson Police tells KGUN9 that at about 7:45 am, South Tucson Officers were dispatched to the area of 5th Avenue and 31st Street after a report of a man being struck by a vehicle.
Lt. Inorio says that when officers arrived, they found a 43-year-old man lying in an alleyway suffering from life-threatening injuries.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died.
The South Tucson Detective Unit responded and during their investigation determined that the victim was being chased and intentionally struck by a vehicle before it fled the scene.
The suspect vehicle is described as a small possibly foreign made silver 4-door sedan. There may have been only one person in the car at the time.
The vehicle has substantial damage to both the left front and left rear.
Lt. Inorio says the incident covered several blocks and there may be additional witnesses, whom have yet to come forward.
The name of the victim will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
There is a cash reward up to $1,000.
