TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Former University of Arizona police Sgt. John McGrath reached a plea deal for an extreme DUI charge he faced in February after crashing his patrol SUV into a wall while on duty.
McGrath, who pleaded guilty to one count of extreme DUI, must spend two days in jail, serve seven more days at home and pay more than $3,900 in fees. He will also be on probation for two years.
UAPD fired McGrath after his blood alcohol content was found to be four times the legal limit while on duty.
McGrath was traveling over 76 miles per hour when he crashed. McGrath had been with the department since 2009.
