Two arrested on child abuse charges
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Police arrested the mother of a 1-year-old baby along with the mother's boyfriend after the baby was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Sgt. Chris Widmer with Tucson Police tells KGUN9 that Bryan Barker, 29, and Diana Noncheva, 23, were arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail Monday.
Noncheva brought her baby into the hospital Monday in critical condition with bruising on his head and body.
Detectives with Tucson Police say the injuries happened earlier Monday in the 4800 block of east 29th Street while the baby was in the care of Barker.
Barker called Noncheva telling her he dropped the baby and the baby was unresponsive.
Noncheva arrived home after work and found the baby still responsive, but waiting an hour before calling a friend to take them to the hospital.
Barker was charged with two counts of child abuse and Noncheva was arrested for one count of child abuse for not seeking treatment immediately.
