TUCSON (KGUN9-TV)- Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents arrested eight smugglers and six illegal immigrants over the last two days. They also seized four all-terrain vehicles and 5,000 pounds of marijuana.
Ajo and Casa Grande agents assigned to the West Desert Task Force discovered four abandoned ATVs and 69 bundles of marijuana Wednesday. They said it was scattered throughout an area on the Tohono O'odham Nation.
Agents from Tucson Station's Mobile Response Team arrested eight people who reportedly illegally crossed the U.S. border in the Arivaca area. An air crew also helped locate 19 bundles of marijuana there, according to officials.
120 bundles of marijuana were found in a tractor trailer at the I-19 checkpoint Thursday night, after a canine alerted officers.
Six illegal immigrants were also found hidden in a commercial trailer refrigerated at 45 degrees. One of these people was under 18-years-old, officials said.
Agents processed all drugs and vehicles for seizure. All people arrested were prosecuted per the Tucson Sector prosecution guidelines.
