Streetcar is on it's way! See the first official picture

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) -  You've seen the animated model of what the modern streetcar will look like.

You've seen our footage of the orange and white stripped traffic barriers, and you have definitely heard the construction.

But now, posted on the Modern Streetcar's Facebook page, we finally have the very first picture of the very first modern street car.

It's loaded onto a truck, traveling from Portland, Oregon to Tucson.

"It's gonna give local culture. It's going to give a flavor to Tucson," said one excited future streetcar enthusiast.
We spread the news to people on 4th Avenue that the streetcar is finally on it's way.
"[This picture] is obviously something tangible that we're going to see."
"I lived in Phoenix for a little bit, and I loved the lightrail, so this is as close as we're going to get for Tucson."
And, it's getting closer!
Officials said it should be here by Friday.
But, do not plan your commutes quite yet.
We're told the streetcar still needs to be tested on the tracks, and the seven other cars need to make their triumphant trip too.
If you're planning on traveling downtown at night any time this week, construction crews are paving their final roads in preparation for the streetcar.
They'll be working from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. through Friday.
Here is the road closure information per Downtown Tucson's website:
"Beginning Sunday, August 25, through Friday, August 29,  the contractor will work nights to mill, (remove existing roadway material) pave and stripe the roadways in the downtown area. Motorists should prepare for delays, closures and detours during the overnight operations. The streets affected are: Congress Street from west of 6th Avenue through the Granada Avenue intersection, and Broadway from just west of the Granada Avenue intersection to Herbert Street. Fifth, Sixth, Scott, Stone and Church Avenues will be milled, paved and striped from north of Congress Street to south of Broadway."
