TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Shoppers beware! Thieves want your bags and sometimes they'll do whatever it takes!
Statistically, Pima County Sheriff's deputies say auto thefts and break-ins go up with the start of the holiday shopping season.
So here's what they suggest:
- Park in a well lit areas.
- Check your front and back seats before getting into your car.
- Have your keys out before returning to your car.
- Don't leave valuables out in plain sight. Hide them in your trunk.
"A lot of the mall parking lots, shopping centers, movie theaters, even churches, they will be in the parking lot, doing there own surveillance," said Det. Henry Laroque with the Pima County Sheriff's Department..
Deputies also say it's a good idea to make a note of where you parked.
Of course, there's an app for that! Find-My-Car allows you to jot down parking spot reminders, marking your cars exact GPS location.
