TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A strong and cold storm system will continue to bring rain and snow to Southern Arizona this weekend. Expect periods of heavy rain and high elevation snow today into Sunday.
Patchy, dense fog to the south of Interstate 10 near Vail, as well as along highway 83 towards Sonoita will reduce visibility below a quarter mile.
Motorists should slow down and use caution on the wet roadways in southeast Pima and northeast Santa Cruz counties Friday.
Over an inch of rain had fallen atop Mt. Lemmon as of 8 a.m. Friday morning, and showing no signs of stopping.
Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will continue through Friday and into Saturday.
A Flood Watch continues through Friday evening for portions of Southeast Arizona. Please use caution when traveling, and don't drive into any flooded roads or washes.
Snow levels will gradually lower to 7500 feet Saturday morning, then down to 6500 feet Saturday night.
A Winter Storm Warning for all mountain locations above 7500 feet, including Mt. Lemmon and Summerhaven, goes into affect Friday evening, and continues into Sunday morning.
High temps will drop into the upper 50s over the weekend, with lows in the 40s in Tucson. We will gradually warm back to the 60s next week, as dry air moves back in.
