TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A suspect is in stable condition after police shot him while serving a search warrant Friday night on the west side.
Sgt. Pete Dugan with Tucson Police tells KGUN9 that 36-year-old Michael Castillo is suspected to be involved with multiple narcotics and weapons incidents.
Police arrived around 7:30 p.m. to serve a search warrant on someone involved with weapons misconduct at an apartment in the 2600 block of N. 14th Ave, near Oracle and Glenn.
As police approached the home, they spotted Castillo leaving and they tried to make contact with him. He fled and officers pursued him into the apartment complex.
A confrontation ensued and then two officers and Castillo exchanged gunfire. Police shot Castillo multiple times and he was taken to an area hospital where he's in stable condition.
The two TPD officers were not injured, Sgt. Dugan said.
Homicide and Internal Affairs are investigating the shooting.
