GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A quiet Green Valley neighborhood is now on edge after thieves cleaned out one of the homes.
The neighbors so fearful, they wouldn't talk on camera about it, but said they feel violated that something like this could happen.
"It's very rare," said Lt. Jeffrey Palmer, District Commander for the Pima County Sheriff's Department in Green Valley. "It hasn't happened in Green Valley that I'm aware of in the last several years, even in Tucson that's a rare thing."
Palmer says the burglaries happened sometime between July 24 and August 4, most likely overnight. The neighborhood is located just off Camino del Sol, south of the San Ignacio Golf Club.
Both homes were vacant at the time and deputies only learned of what happened when a caretaker came to check on one of the homes and noticed the garage door open and the homeowner's car missing.
In that home, Palmer says the thieves took nearly everything; furniture, appliances, they even cleaned out kitchen cabinets.
"This would have had to occur with a large truck or moving van with multiple suspects," said Palmer.
He says neighbors didn't hear or see anything, but detectives did gather evidence at the home and are now building suspect profiles.
The second home burglarized was across the street but Palmer says very few items were taken from that home, and it seemed the thieves spent significantly less time there.
Neighbors said they are now looking into additional security measures for their homes.
"This particular case does seem like it was very organized and they were very deliberate in their actions," said Palmer. "They knew what they were wanting, they targeted that particular house, knew it was vacant and went after that location."
Anyone with information about these burglaries is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
