Oro Valley welcomes newest member of K-9 unit
ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - The Oro Valley Police Department announced the newest member of its K-9 unit, a 3-year-old German Shepherd named Max.
Max comes from the Netherlands and is a certified service dog. He has already begun training for narcotics detection training with the OVPD K-9 unit.
Max will be a dual-purpose patrol and narcotics detection canine and will be training in search, apprehension and protection.
Max is replacing a canine who recently retired. His handler, Officer Roger Reynolds says he should be certified and ready for work in about four to six weeks.
