MARANA, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - Emergency crews responded to a collision involving a school bus on the northwest side Thursday afternoon.

Capt. Adam Goldberg with Northwest Fire tells KGUN9 that crews responded to Interstate 10 and Grier Road (North of Tangerine Road) around 3:00 p.m. after a Prius collided with a school bus.

The crash happened in front of Marjorie W Estes Elementary School. A total of 55 students were on the bus, and emergency crews evaluated 16 students for injuries, according to Goldberg.

None of the students were transported to the hospital, Goldberg said.

Emergency crews transported the driver of the sedan to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Goldberg.

Marana police are still investigating the crash. They are considering citing the bus driver for failure to yield on a private drive.

The bus driver will also be tested for drugs and alcohol, which is common after school bus crashes.

KGUN 9 On Your Side will continue to update this story with any new information that becomes available.
